Greetings from Maine!

By Sara White August 14, 2015

We’re celebrating the season with our favorite flavors from Maine. From sweet and tangy wild blueberries to fresh succulent lobsters, there’s always something delicious to eat in Maine, no matter what time of day.

A “Berry” Good Breakfast

Pour yourself a fresh cup of coffee, and start your day with the fresh taste of Maine Blueberries. Treat the whole family to blueberry waffles or pancakes with Stonewall Kitchen’s Farmhouse Pancake and Waffle Mix, using Kate’s Butter and Real Butter Milk and top the whole plate off with Stonewall’s Maine Maple Syrup.

For something a little lighter, our own Blueberry loaf breads and coffeecakes are always a favorite, especially when paired with Stonewall’s Jams or Jellies – made in York, ME.

Lobstah!
The “Maine” Attraction

Lunch on the go is a breeze with our stores’s Lobster Shacks. They’re serving up our own, fresh made Maine Lobster Rolls. Check it out on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between 4:30 and 6:30pm.

For dinner, you can have a Maine celebration of your own with just one stop to any of our stores. Of course, you’ll need to stop by the seafood counter.

Our briny, sweet, soft shelled Maine Steaming Clams are the perfect thing to start off your meal. Just toss them in a pot of salty water, let them soak for about 20 minutes, then steam. If you’re in the mood for chowder, Our Kitchen’s New England Clam Chowder is sure to impress.  Serve it up with some classic Oyster Crackers and a side of our Bakery’s Fresh Baked Corn Bread for a meal that will leave you and your family in a state of pure Maine bliss.

Of course, our Live n’ Kickin’ Maine Lobsters are the true star of your seafood celebration. Wild caught and as fresh as can be, if you’re not in the mood to cook them yourself, we would be happy to steam them in store at our seafood counter.  Or perhaps our Chef Ready Lobster Tails are just what you’re looking for. They’re ready to go right from the store, and are perfect for cooking on the grill. Serve either with our Super Sweet Butter & Sugar Corn for a delicious, Maine inspired meal.

Whoopie!
Mousse or Moose?

The Maine celebration doesn’t stop after dinner. Enjoy a slice of Maine’s official State Dessert by picking up one of our Bakery’s Wild Maine Blueberry Pies, served with a scoop of Gifford’s Ice Cream, made right in Skowhegan, ME.

On the other hand, Maine’s official “State Treat” get’s some love from our Bakery, where an assortment of Whoopie Pies are available to satisfy your sweet tooth.  Steve’s Whoopie Pies offer a wide assortment of flavors, including Red Velvet, Double Chocolate and more, or pick up one of our own Character Decorated, or Lemon Raspberry Whoopie Pies. Finally, if you’re family is absolutely crazy about whoopie pies, The “Big Whoop” – a cake sized whoopie pie – might be just what you need.

Come down to Roche Bros. this week and treat yourself to your own little slice of Maine, right in your own backyard!
