So many of us with gluten sensitivities gaze longingly at the Italian pastas on the shelf, wistful for those delicious pasta dinners we used to enjoy. Leading Italian pasta maker Barilla finally answered the call and crafted a delicious line of gluten free pastas worthy of the Barilla name.
This new pasta is made from a combination of white & yellow corn and rice, making it naturally gluten free. Available in Spaghetti, Penne, Rotini & Elbows, the chefs from Barilla believe you won’t be able to tell the difference between this and “regular pasta”. Barilla America Executive Chef Lorenzo Boni explains, “In the past, chefs haven’t had access to a delicious, quality gluten free pasta. Our gluten free pasta was four years in the making. We wanted it to be perfect.”

  • To get the most out of your Barilla gluten-free pasta, Chef Boni offered the following suggestions:
  • Agitate the pasta during the first 1-2 minutes of cooking to achieve balanced distribution and avoid clumping
  • Add your sauce immediately after draining your gluten free pasta. Too much time in the skillet can lead to over-thickening of the sauce
  • Serve pasta salads at room temperature to maintain optimal texture
