Finger Lickin’ Chicken

FINGER LICKIN’ CHICKEN: 10 Great Ways to Use Chicken Breasts

Tired of tenders? Nagged by nuggets?
Go beyond the basic – and enjoy the convenience, flavor and great value of chicken breasts – with these 10 ideas!

Add Some Spice
A new spice blend – like Herbs de Provence, Cajun Spice, or Bombay Curry – transforms simple baked chicken into a culinary adventure. Rub liberally on or under the skin and bake covered at 400F until internal temperature reaches 165F.

Make it Crispy
Add an egg wash and coat in something crispy like your favorite nuts or breakfast cereal, and bake uncovered until crunchy and golden brown. Or break out your favorite fried chicken recipe and invite a crowd!

Marinade in Yogurt
Both the calcium and the lactic acid naturally occurring in yogurt make it a quick and easy marinade for chicken – a favorite approach in India and the Middle East. Combine plain yogurt with your favorite spices and with just 15 minutes of marinating you’ll have a more moist and tender meal!

Bake in a Skillet
Sautee aromatics in a cast iron pan or dutch oven, add spices, rice or other grains, and chicken stock and place the chicken breasts right on top. Simmer covered on the stove or bake at 400F until internal temperature reaches 165F, for an easy one-pot dinner.

Glaze with Jam
Whisk your favorite Stonewall Kitchen jam with some wine or vinegar and soy sauce or mustard for an easy glaze. Try apricot jam with Dijon (like in this Apricot Mustard Glazed Chicken recipe), blueberry with balsamic, or marmalade with chardonnay.

Wrap in Bacon
While we love the deep savory flavor of bacon, we need a little more for a hearty dinner. Wrapping bacon around chicken breasts before baking infuses that meaty flavor into a lean and healthy protein for the best of both worlds Try it with a drizzle of maple syrup!

Slurp Some Soup
Chicken bones make for an extra flavorful soup with a smooth mouthfeel. Combine bone-in chicken breasts with onion, celery, carrots, peppercorns, and enough water to cover – then cook long and low in a slow cooker or heavy pot on the stove for as long as you can. Strain the stock and shred the tender chicken for one of the uses below.

Top a Pizza
Shredded or cubed cooked chicken adds protein to a dinnertime favorite. Top your own pie or takeout with chicken, pesto, and mozzarella, or try a southern take with bbq sauce and corn kernels!

Top a Taco
Stuff taco shells or tortillas with shredded chicken, ribboned lettuce, grated carrots, and Our Kitchen’s guacamole or pico de gallo for an easy Mexican-inspired dinner.

Make a Dip
The game isn’t the same without some buffalo chicken dip! Stir shredded chicken into a mixture of cream cheese, blue cheese dressing, shredded cheese, and hot sauce for a tailgating classic.
