Massachusetts Blues

Featured Cheese: Berkshire Blue

Berkshire Blue is a raw Jersey Cow’s milk cheese. Each morning farm fresh milk is picked up from a nearby farm.  This local farm is the sole supplier. Small batches of milk are used to hand craft Berkshire Blue Cheese, made in Berkshire County, MA, since 2000.  This cheese is delicious on its own, with dried fruit or jam, crumbled into a salad, or as a tangy topping in our Cobb Burger recipe!

Vendor Story: Great Hill Creamery

Located on the shores of Buzzard’s Bay, fifty miles south of Boston, Great Hill Dairy in Marion, Massachusetts has been crafting an American classic blue cheese in its turn-of-the-century barn since 1997. The owners talents are diverse – they are known for their outstanding herd of Guernsey cows as well as its prize winning Acacia and Orchid collections!

Great Hill Blue is an artisan, hand made cheese produced in the ancient tradition, using raw, non-homogenized milk. The result is a rich, creamy, gourmet quality blue veined cheese. Great Hill Blue has been recognized with numerous awards, including first place in the 1999 & 2008 American Cheese Society annual judging, a finalist in the 1999 Fancy Food Show and blue ribbon recipient in the 2001 World Cheese Championship.
