A Sartori-family original, Bellavitano Gold is a rich, creamy cheese that boasts a nutty, fruity flavor. Inspired by traditional Italian farmstead cheese, it initially tastes like a premium Parmesan, then finishes with hints of melted butter. Topping this cheese off with just a few drops of Modena balsamic vinegar to create Bellavitano Balsamic adds a sweet coating that brought it honors at the World Cheese Awards.
Enjoy this cheese in a sandwich with smoked turkey and crusty bread, try it at a tailgate with a pale ale or serve it at your next wine-and-cheese alongside raisins, dates and almonds!
Sartori is a fourth-generation family-owned and operated cheese company. Since it was founded in 1939 in Plymouth, Wis., the company has grown substantially, without losing sight of its roots. To Sartori, family is everything, extending far beyond its own: The company prides itself on the special relationships it has with its family farmers, many of whom have supplied it with milk for several generations.
Because those farmers are Sartori’s good friends and neighbors in Wisconsin, the premium milk the company uses to make its cheeses – which is free of added hormones – arrives fresh daily. This “farm-to-fork” system helps Sartori maintain consistent quality throughout every step of the cheese-making process, ensuring the best flavor.
Sartori’s more than 70-year history is full of notable moments that make it what it is today. In 1970, it became the first U.S. exporter of cheese to Italy and Japan. And in 1985, it pioneered freshly grated, all-natural Parmesan cheese with a longer shelf life. Sartori Bellavitano was introduced in 1999, and has received countless awards over the years. Most recently, Bellavitano Gold was the Grand Champion at the 2013 World Dairy Expo.
