  1. Preheat oven to 375°. In small bowl, whisk egg and milk.
  2. In large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add butter and crumble through flour mixture with your fingers; add raisins. Stir in all but one teaspoon egg mixture until stiff dough forms.
  3. Transfer dough to floured work surface; roll out dough and put in round pan. With paring knife, make a cross on top of dough; brush with remaining 1 teaspoon egg mixture. Bake 1 hour or until golden brown.
