  1. In high-sided large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add sausage and cook 4 minutes or until browned, breaking up sausage with side of spoon; with slotted spoon, transfer sausage to plate.
  2. In same skillet with droppings, cook onion over medium heat 3 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently. Add tomatoes with their juice and stock; heat to a boil. Stir in orecchiette and reduce heat to medium-low; cover and cook 10 minutes or until orecchiette is al dente. Stir in cream, cheese, basil, salt, pepper and sausage; cook 5 minutes or until sauce is slightly thickened. Makes about 6 cups.
  3. In small skillet. toast pine nuts over medium heat 4 minutes or until lightly browned and fragrant, stirring frequently; transfer to plate.
  4. Serve orecchiette mixture sprinkled with pine nuts garnished with cheese and basil, if desired.
